In the begining

When I started this blog last week, it was in order to post a comment on another blog. Well, I have since decided that this is a forum for what I think is cool. Anything is fair game, from groovy antiques to issues that I feel passionately about.

This leads me to my first real topic: It is my belief that music is a vital part of education. Aside from it's aesthetic beauty, listening to music routinely lifts the spirits and can be quite theraputic to the psyche. However, if we do not teach our children to play, there will be no music to listen to.

I understand that not everyone can afford to donate to all of the worthy causes. There are other ways of showing support, however. It is my request of you, all of you, that you go to every live performance you can. That if the arts programs near you are being threatened, that you do what can to save them! Encourage your children to play an instrument. Do something, even if it is read more about why it is important to save music education in the public schools.
